dear friends of hb, After 27 years we ended a very special chapter in our lives and closed Hamersley's Bistro. We've had a very long and gratifyingly successful run as restaurateurs and we thank our gracious customers, close friends and family, and the city of Boston for your support for almost three decades.

It has been very clear to us over the years that this restaurant is a great place because of our staff of loyal, dedicated, hard-working individuals who make up, arguably, one of the best restaurant teams out there. Their talent and commitment have made Hamersley's a special place for all of our customers and for this city, and we cannot thank them enough.

To our devoted customers, we cannot express our feelings at this time about all of you. For those of you whom we see on a regular basis, you will always be a part of our Hamersley's Bistro family. Thank you all for making our dreams a reality and for supporting us for so many years. The Hamersley's Bistro name would not be the same without you.

When we created Hamersley's Bistro in 1987 in a cramped 49-seat space across the street, it was simply to be able to cook the food we liked to eat and to serve the wines we liked to drink in the kind of rustic-urban space we love. We were young, ambitious and eager to see how the South End would grow. We have been honored and grateful to watch the city blossom with talented chefs and restaurants, making the South End such a vibrant and special part of Boston.

Hamersley's Bistro closed for business at the end of October 2014. We've sold this iconic space to a restaurateur who will create a new restaurant and who will continue the wonderful relationship we've had with the Boston Center for the Arts over the past 21 years.

Sincerely, Gordon and Fiona Hamersley
